Olden Yolk is the collaborative songwriting project of multi-instrumentalist Shane Butler. The project initially functioned as a moniker for Butler to release one-offs and singles under while touring with Quilt, but over time morphed into his full-time pursuit. The result is a harmonious, melancholic, and mystical brand of low key alt-folk with quirky, abstract lyricism.

Shane Butler (Quilt) formed a band with his love interest Caity Shaffer and made great indie rock/pop tunes with lyrics that full of art, poetry and complex human emotions. How to choose a favorite track? Goodness, The epic finale, "Takes One To Know One"? The rollicking "Cut To The Quick"? The folky "Common Ground" and "Vital Sign" featuring the swoony, swaying vocals of Caity? So, so many! But I will choose the ever-lovely "Gamblers On A Dime" which I can listen to constantly!
