Molly Hamilton has been writing songs as Widowspeak since 2011, partnering with Brooklyn label Captured Tracks for all 4 releases. Since 2012 her and guitarist Robert Earl Thomas have been co-creators of the project; developing their somber, transcendental sound in a symbiotic musical relationship. The band's most recent release "Expect the Best" showcases the sound they've been building since the beginning: twangy, melancholy guitar work meant to elevate Hamilton's tender, inquisitive vocal delivery culminating in what the band calls "cowboy grunge".

To refer to her as an “old soul” is understating that term. She is like an “every soul”. No matter your age, gender, or sexual preference, these songs hit that melancholy nerve for anyone that wanted someone so badly they felt like they could just die, and the entire world along with them. This is lo-fi music created on a hi-fi level. It evokes nineties bands like Velocity Girl and Belly, yet with a Millennial edge. Can’t wait for more to come from this sad, beautiful flower. mcebbie
